Fragments of three Pz.Kpfw.38(t) (LT 38 Czechoslovak light tanks)

Captured Czechoslovak tanks of LT38 type were used by German Army under the German name mostly during their combats against Soviet partisans in Belarus, in this particular case in Verkhnedvinsk district.

During the winter time group of German soldiers came to the village

Bukhovo on the Pz.Kpfw.38(t) tank looking for food. On their way back they decided to use another road due to Soviet artillery barrage. Elderly local man willingly and friendly showed them the way over the river Drissa. Finally, in the middle of the river an ice had crashed and the tank sunk. The old man was the member of a partisan detachment.

Second tank of this type was found in the river Ovsianka where it fell together with parts of wooden bridge damaged by partisans.

Third LT38 was discovered in the lake Zanaliutik near the shore. Probably, the driver incorrectly determined the shore-line and drove his vehicle onto the ice.

All three Pz.Kpfw.38(t) were blown up and completely destroyed, that why only a lot of  fragments were taken out of the water.
